In Grateful Dead 365, five decades of intimate portraits, candid backstage shots, and colorful performance images take readers on the band’s remarkable journey from the mid-sixties to the twenty-first century. Accompanied by the band’s distinctive graphics, these photographs capture memorable moments, including the band’s trip to the Great Pyramid of Egypt; scenes with colorful, trippy Deadheads; and tributes to Garcia. Written by award-winning music writer, Holly George-Warren, Grateful Dead 365 celebrates the evolution of one of the world’s most beloved bands.
This is a heavy, thick book with 365 photos of the Grateful Dead and its members (and some fans). It shows the photos chronologically, and you see all the band members over the years (for those who survived), as well as plenty of concert shots. There are many images that have never been published before. There’s not much text, just enough to identify who’s in the pictures. The text is far more informative and interesting than I expected, and the quality of the photos and the paper of the highest order. Much of the photography is by Jay Blakesburg, who is a highly talented visual artist.
Book with hard cover in very good condition but with a small black spot on the side. See photo’s, they are of the actual object.
